Use of the Horn'up
How to make a success of calves or goats dehorning :

- Put the calf or the goat in an crush.
- Shear around the horn bud with a Saphir clipper from Heiniger before dehorning.
- Immobilize the head.
- Place the heating part(party) on the base of the horn bud.
- Press the ON button, maintain it pressed during all the operation.
- An audible signal of 3 short beeps and the indicator light (Item 6)indicates that the cycle has started.
- After 2 to 3 seconds, rotate the device 45° two or three times to guarantee the uniformity of the cauterization circle.
- After about 7 seconds an audible signal of nonstop short Beeps indicates that the operation has finished.
- Release the ON button.
- check the uniformity of the cauterization circle.
- Apply a disinfectant spray.
- Use the dehorner on young animals only (in the first week of life for kids and between 8 and 15 days for calves)
WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT MAKE to dehorn safely:
- Do not try to bring the horn bud down.
- Do not strongly press the device on the head of the animal.
- Do not make too many rotation movements.
- Do not start rotation movements from the beginning of the cycle.

Important points:
- Dehorn in the first days of life of the animals (in the first week of life for kids, between 8 and 15 days for calves).
- Dehorn as soon as we can notice the bud of the horn.
- Use a cage to firmly immobilize the head of the animal.
- A circular burn from 4 to 5 mm allows to guarantee that the horn will not grow again.
- Do not try to remove the horn.
- Check that the Spray penetrates at the bottom of the wound.
Why to shear:
- To visualize the horn bud.
- To decrease the risks of infections.
- To check the quality of the cauterization.
Why to DISINFECT:
- Cool the wound.
- Prevent infection.
